QACenter for WebSphere MQ

Analysis and test automation for WebSphere MQ applications

2.4

QACenter for WebSphere MQ allows you to record, review, replay and report IBM WebSphere MQ activity.  This allows IT departments to:

  • test WebSphere MQ application changes without the user interface
  • simulate server application respones during a user interface test
  • test changes to the operating system, language system or subsystems
  • implement consistent, repeatable regression tests
  • conduct pre-production performance testing for applications and system software
  • confirm disaster recovery site configuration and performance
  • audit server activity for appropriate access
  • provide hidden details to help desk and support personnel.

QACenter for WebSphere MQ features:

Record

QACenter for WebSphere MQ records actual WebSphere MQ sessions. A global recording facility for WebSphere MQ lets you capture MQ messages flowing through z/OS MQ managers on test or production systems.

Review

One of the major challenges in deploying WebSphere MQ applications is determing whether the expected queue is being accessed with expected data, using the correct parameters. QACenter for WebSphere MQ provides detailed information about WebSphere MQ application behavior. MQ activity is formatted into the actual API calls and parameters used by the application including GET and PUT detail data.  An event summary describes what events took place on selected MQ managers, queues and applications within a given timeframe. A File-AID interface maps detail data into your application program's data maps.

Replay

Timely testing in complex WebSphere MQ frameworks is difficult because of the interdependent enviroments required for each test.  The message data by QACenter for WebSphere MQ can automatically replay either side of a WebSphere MQ conversation.  Application components residing in z/OS can be tested with or without the front-end tiers.  Testing distributed components is simplified by the ability to simulate server requests and responses.

Reporting

QACenter for WebSphere MQ helps organize recorded WebSphere MQ activity into useful reports that highlight key trends, events and results. Reports also compare current WebSphere MQ message contents and headers to an expected baseline.  These reports are provided in printed form, HTML pages, or comma-separated-variable (CSV) files for flexibility and usability.

Customization

To facilitate customization of scripts, IBM's REXX language can be incorporated into WebSphere MQ scripts. REXX routines might be used within a WebSphere MQ script to:

  • modify data within a WebSphere MQ message
  • read data from an external file and populate pre-recorded WebSphere MQ messages
  • perform conditional processing of MQ messages based on live application requests and responses.
