Optimal Trace Integration for Microsoft VSTS

Optimal Trace Enterprise Edition integrates with Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 Team System, Microsoft’s integrated software development platform.  This integration allows VSTS users to leverage the advantages of Optimal Trace resulting in:

  • accurate and complete business and system requirements
  • tracing of all design and QA activities in VSTS back to requirements and full end-to-end traceability right through the project lifecycle from conception to deployment.

The Optimal Trace Integration enables the automatic population of VSTS "work items" within the TFS (Team Foundation Server). This avoids the need for manual inputting and ensuring that complete and accurate requirements form the basis for the project activities. The integration also provides the ability to update any requirements changes made in Optimal Trace into the TFS project.  These updates preserve the integrity of any other data associated with the work item, including aspects such as estimated effort etc.. This means that change management is fully facilitated during the lifecycle.

  • All Optimal Trace detail carried over as read-only in dedicated tabbed panes associated with each Workitem
