Compuware and Carolina Hurricanes to Bring the Stanley Cup to Detroit Beginning July 17

Two-day Visit of World’s Most Famous Trophy to Include Availability for Compuware Employees and Customers, Local Charities, Public and Media

WHAT:

Compuware Chairman and CEO Peter Karmanos, Jr., owner of the Carolina Hurricanes, will bring the Stanley Cup—the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes—to the Detroit area beginning Monday, July 17. Karmanos purchased the Hurricanes-then the Hartford Whalers—in 1994 en route to this year's Stanley Cup victory, the franchise's first.

"I'm proud to bring the Stanley Cup to my hometown," explained Karmanos. "In the time it's here, I'm going to ensure that Compuware employees and customers have an opportunity to enjoy the trophy, while also offering local charities, the public and the media a chance to see the Cup."

Karmanos and Compuware have a more than 30-year history of hockey sponsorship, particularly youth hockey in metropolitan Detroit. Compuware youth hockey programs, including the Plymouth Whalers, have over the years produced NHL stars such as Pat LaFontaine, Al Iafrate, Chad LaRose, Mike Modano, Eric Lindros, Kevin Hatcher and Justin Williams.
