Compuware and The Children’s Center Partner to Benefit At-risk Kids Through Get Fit Day Presented By Work It Out and Ongoing Wellness Program

June 3 Kickoff Event to Feature Free Health-screenings, Cooking and Nutrition Classes, Athletic Activities and Sports Celebrity Appearances

DETROIT--May 17, 2006--Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CPWR) today announced that it would partner with The Children’s Center in Detroit to increase the health and wellness of at-risk children by supporting the "Work It Out" program. The official launch of this new program for clients served by The Children’s Center will take place at the first-ever Get Fit Day presented by Work It Out on Saturday, June 3, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at The Children’s Center.

According to the Michigan Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports, one of every two children in Michigan today is likely to die prematurely from preventable cardiovascular disease or cancer. Among abused, neglected or displaced children—like those served by The Children’s Center—these problems can be even more pronounced.

"The Children’s Center serves some of the most challenged children in the Detroit metropolitan area," said The Children’s Center Board Member and Work It Out program founder Danialle Karmanos. "By providing an exciting introduction to fitness at the Get Fit Day and combining it with an ongoing program, The Children’s Center will increase its ability to offer at-risk youth the opportunity to develop a positive image of themselves and appreciate physical and emotional well being."

At the Get Fit Day, more than 300 children and family members from The Children’s Center are expected to enjoy fitness activities and health resources ranging from group exercise to relaxation training to health screenings by Detroit Medical Center physicians. Additionally, former Detroit Lion and Walter Payton/NFL Man of the Year Award-winner Ron Rice will attend the event, along with Detroit Shock representatives and players from the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers and the MISL’s Detroit Ignition. Families and kids served by The Children’s Center will also be treated to clowns, face painting and jugglers from The Parade Company.

"The Get Fit Day and Work It Out program represent additional and meaningful resources that The Children’s Center will now be able to deliver to at-risk children and their families," said Douglas Ferrick, Chief Development Officer for The Children’s Center. "Through our dynamic kickoff event on June 3, we expect to increase understanding about the importance of health, exercise and nutrition among our families and the children we serve."

Get Fit Day

The Get Fit Day will take place on Saturday, June 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Children’s Center, 79 West Alexandrine, Detroit.
