Compuware Annual OJ.X Event Grows to Become Midwest’s Premier Information Technology Conference

Unique, Multi-Platform Application Development Event Entertains and Educates More Than a Thousand Attendees With Top-Level Speakers and Entertainment

DETROIT--October 7, 2005--On Thursday, October 6, Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CPWR) hosted more than a thousand attendees at its second annual OJ.X event at the company’s Detroit headquarters, making OJ.X the premier Information Technology (IT) event in the Midwest this year. The .NET and Java learning and entertainment event featured top-level speakers from Microsoft Corporation, The Eclipse Foundation, HP, Gartner and Forrester, as well as Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations, Joe Dumars. For entertainment, OJ.X participants were treated to comedy from Dennis Miller and music from national recording artist, Uncle Kracker.

"This was an important event for the IT community and the city of Detroit," said Larry Angeli, Vice President of Marketing for Compuware. "Building on the success of our first OJX event in 2004 was a tall order, but by combining technical learning sessions with a comprehensive IT management track, we were able to offer an experience that was unique in this industry and certainly unique to a city traditionally known for its automotive prowess."

At the OJ.X event, Compuware announced that it has made a strategic, long-term commitment to the Eclipse Foundation by becoming an Eclipse Strategic Developer. Compuware also announced that the company is strengthening its commitment to the Microsoft Windows platform and will be supporting Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.

The one-day, annual conference blended education, expertise, success stories, networking and entertainment in a "learning festival" environment for IT professionals, enabling them to rapidly respond to changing business needs. OJ.X featured keynote addresses from General Manager of Microsoft Enterprise Tools, Rick LaPlante, who discussed "Managing the Software Lifecycle," Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation, Mike Milinkovich, who gave an overview on the past, present and future of Eclipse, and Compuware Director of Marketing for Application Development, Mike Burba, who discussed "Innovation Through Agility: Developing Applications in the Enterprise."

"Development teams are challenged to help the CIO deliver innovation to business," Burba told the OJ.X participants in his keynote address. "At Compuware, we believe that development organizations will only be able to deliver on the innovation imperative by "getting agile." We have aligned all of our development solutions, from our people to our processes to our tools, with this principle, and we stand ready to help your organization deliver innovation through agility."

Interactive learning tracks throughout the day included opportunities for participants to experience topics including: Best Practices for .NET and Java Code, How to Build Secure Applications in an Insecure World and strategies for the Next Generation of Application Development Environments. Gartner Research Director Theresa Lanowitz also discussed security vulnerabilities in the application development space and how to address them, while Forrester Vice-President Carl Zetie discussed how enterprise application development and integration has been simplified by the introduction of new, agile tools.

"As a participant, presenter and a Compuware OptimalJ customer, OJ.X exceeded my expectations on several levels," said Dynamics Research Corporation (DRC) Director of State and Local Programs, Kathy Perras. "The presentations and experiential opportunities, combined with the new knowledge I gained from hearing from the key players in the .NET and Java communities, was extremely beneficial for myself and DRC."
