Compuware to Outline Essential Solutions for Addressing the Data Privacy Challenge

Webinar to Discuss Data Privacy Issues; Outline Processes and Best Practices to Effectively Ensure Data Privacy During Application Testing

DETROIT--March 28, 2005--Compuware Corporation today announced it will host a data privacy webinar titled "Implementing Data Privacy Assurance in the Application Testing Environment" on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

With the advent of new government regulations and fast-approaching compliance deadlines, protecting sensitive data is of critical importance to businesses and information technology organizations. Failure to protect sensitive data can cost businesses dearly through reduced market share, increased legal liability and damaged reputations. Even though IT organizations may be taking steps to protect production data, this is frequently not sufficient. The same data privacy precautions also need to be applied to the test environment.

This Compuware webinar will discuss the processes and procedures necessary to effectively address data privacy requirements, with a special focus on ensuring data privacy during application testing. Compuware will provide a four-step best practices approach to developing an effective data privacy solution. In addition, Compuware will outline how its data privacy solution can drive an entire project through all of the phases of its life cycle, through technology and expertise.

"Companies working feverishly to protect sensitive, personal or company information and data and to comply with recent security legislation have just begun to realize that it is equally necessary to protect data in the test environment as well the production environment," says Rikki Kirzner, Partner, Hurwitz & Associates. "The ability to work with a top tier company like Compuware, which provides a combination of proven tools and technology, best practices and customized services, will save organizations time, money and help simplify the difficult process of achieving their security and legislative goals."

Attendees will gain knowledge of Compuware’s approach to: mitigating risk by identifying and depersonalizing sensitive test data, keeping test data meaningful and ensuring data integrity across applications. Additionally, the webinar will present a methodology that is aimed at providing better streamlined data management processes, facilitating repeatability and auditability of procedures, and improving productivity.

"The common belief of IT organizations is that strict data privacy policies and procedures are not required since testing is performed against a non-production environment. In reality, test environments tend to be less secure with broader accessibility, making them vulnerable to privacy abuses and data mishandling. Protecting sensitive data in these environments should be high a priority," said Moungi Slim, Product Manager for Compuware’s File and Data Management suite of products.

Following the Compuware presentation, webinar attendees will have the opportunity to have their questions answered during a Q&A session.
