Compuware Delivers Comprehensive Application Performance Management With New Products, Features and Capabilities

EcoSYSTEMS 2.0 Manages the End-User Experience and Offers Integrated Performance Reporting across Client, Network and Server

LAS VEGAS -- May 8, 2001 -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced the latest release of Compuware's performance management suite, EcoSYSTEMS at the NetWorld+Interop Conference, Booth 7273. Compuware EcoSYSTEMS 2.0 features the addition of Interval Pro to the suite as well as expanded product capabilities.

Interval Pro provides a desktop view of information on end-user response time, improving the ability to meet application service level requirements. Interval Pro also reports the immediate details of an application's status just before it fails, helping pinpoint problems, correct them faster and reduce costly downtime.

EcoSYSTEMS 2.0 also provides an industry first--integrated performance reporting of client, network and server metrics through the EcoSYSTEMS web console, EcoCHANNEL. In addition to introducing Interval Pro and new integrated performance reporting, EcoSYSTEMS 2.0 brings together the latest versions of EcoSCOPE, EcoTOOLS, EcoPREDICTOR, EcoCHANNEL, Application Expert and Application Vantage. Compuware EcoSYSTEMS offers IT professionals a suite of tools designed to help manage the entire application life cycle, from analyzing applications in pre-production to helping avert future network outages with predictive analysis.

Interval Pro

Interval Pro measures application service levels from an end-user perspective by measuring transaction response time at the desktop. Passive monitoring agents deployed on desktops throughout the enterprise or active robots using synthetic transactions at selected enterprise workgroups help Interval Pro monitor response time metrics and provide real-time alerting on service-level violations and application failures. Interval Pro monitors both web-based and Windows applications.

EcoSCOPE 4.3

By continuously monitoring application traffic as it flows through the network, EcoSCOPE analyzes performance of critical applications throughout their life cycle. The product helps IT staffs perform root cause analysis to quickly determine how pervasive application performance problems are, which users and servers are affected and any patterns associated with the performance impairment.

EcoSCOPE 4.3 enhances reporting capabilities by publishing daily response time and latency reports via EcoCHANNEL and expanding coverage of Citrix reporting by following Citrix traffic across dynamic ports. This release of EcoSCOPE has simplified product configuration, data aggregation, editing of user-defined events and global topology building. The release improves troubleshooting with the capability to selectively collect and export data to EcoPREDICTOR by time interval.

EcoTOOLS 7.3

This release of EcoTOOLS, Compuware's monitoring solution for servers, databases and applications, expands its integrated support of UNIX platforms and Oracle environments. EcoTOOLS 7.3 introduces compatibility with HP-UX with additional support for Oracle database monitoring in the Oracle 8.1.7 environment for applications residing on Sun's Solaris 7 and 8 platforms.

EcoTOOLS 7.3 also offers scalability enhancements, improved authentication and event fail-over. In the event that the primary server fails, EcoTOOLS event fail-over capability enables events to be forwarded to a secondary control server. This feature allows EcoTOOLS to continue collecting data and accumulate it on the agent server with events transferred to the secondary control server where specified actions can be initiated, including paging, e-mail or corrective action.

EcoPREDICTOR 3.2

EcoPREDICTOR predicts an application's impact on a network before deployment and helps prevent network disasters. The focus of this release is the product's integration and concurrent licensing with Application Expert.

EcoPREDICTOR 3.2 also enables the integration of information from EcoSCOPE to serve as a baseline for network planning and analysis. EcoPREDICTOR can determine the impact a new application will have on the network using transaction profiles from Application Expert.

Application Expert 2.6 and Application Vantage 1.6

Application Vantage is Compuware's application performance tool for production troubleshooting, while Application Expert enables application profiling and troubleshooting in pre-production environments. These products have been extended to offer concurrent licensing, providing better, more economical enterprise application management.

EcoCHANNEL 2.1

EcoCHANNEL is the web-based central reporting console for all EcoSYSTEMS products. This release of EcoCHANNEL has broadened capabilities for reporting on more of the rich data collected by the EcoSYSTEMS product line.

EcoCHANNEL 2.1 provides network managers with two daily reports--LAN Response Time and LAN Network Latency. The response time report displays the minimum, maximum and average response times for a selected application, server, and probe segment. The network latency report displays the latency between two selected segments for all applications or a selected application.

Pricing and Availability

Interval Pro, EcoSCOPE 4.3, EcoTOOLS 7.3, EcoPREDICTOR 3.2, Application Expert 2.6, Application Vantage 1.6 and EcoCHANNEL 2.1 will be available mid June with U.S. prices beginning at $25,000; $19,000; $695 per server; $27,500; $20,000 and $35,000, respectively. There is no charge for EcoCHANNEL 2.1.
