Compuware and Sun Microsystems Announce Strategic Relationship to Provide Technology and Services for the Sun ONE Architecture
Helps Enterprises Speed Application Development and Deployment
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. and PALO ALTO, Calif. -- June 6, 2001 -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) and Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq: SUNW) are working together to further the adoption of Java™ technology in the enterprise as the vehicle for creating, assembling and deploying web services within Sun's Open Net Environment (Sun ONE). Sun ONE is a comprehensive architecture for the development and delivery of web services across multiple IP-based networks, including web and wireless. The strategic relationship includes joint product development, marketing and professional services initiatives. Compuware has chosen the iPlanet™ Application Server as its primary application server and will be licensing the iPlanet Application Server for inclusion in its application development and e-business solutions. Sun and Compuware will work together to enhance integration with Forte tools, iPlanet e-commerce solutions, the Solaris™ Operating Environment (Solaris OE) and other Java technology-related specifications for Compuware's automated software quality, production readiness and performance management product lines. As a result, customers implementing e-business applications will have an integrated application tools platform from Compuware for Sun technologies. Compuware's Professional Services Division is already working with Sun to support the development and deployment of e-business applications. Additionally, Compuware's professional services staff is experienced in a broad range of services and technologies including expertise in Java and Sun technologies.
