Compuware and Microsoft Team Together to Deploy Wireless Solutions
Compuware Extends Wireless Development Capabilities Using Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server and Visual Studio .NET
ATLANTA -- June 18, 2001 -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) announced today at the Microsoft Tech·Ed Conference that it has teamed with Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) to develop mobile solutions and will use the Mobile Information 2001 Server to deploy Microsoft Exchange Server and custom developed wireless applications to wireless devices. These applications will provide customers with the ability to access Exchange and Outlook information and to update and utilize corporate data throughout their organizations from handheld devices. Compuware is also one of the key early adopters of the Mobile Internet Toolkit technology in Visual Studio .NET, which it will use to develop custom applications for wireless platforms. Compuware will be demonstrating these technologies as a silver sponsor in the mobility booth at Tech·Ed. "Microsoft's Mobility Group has worked very hard to deliver a secure mobile applications server product that builds on our expertise in developer tools, application software and platforms -- and that provides key service opportunities for carriers, enterprise customers and partners," said Juha Christensen, Vice President for Microsoft Corp.'s Mobility Group. "We are very pleased to be working with Compuware to leverage Mobile Information Server as a key enabler for extending the .NET Platform to wireless devices." Compuware will use this powerful new technology to help an increasingly mobile workforce access critical data while away from their desk or office. Applications developed by Compuware will provide sales staff, field service technicians, customer service representatives and other mobile workers with remote access to vital data.
