Structural Steel Girders to Rise at Compuware Headquarters

Project on Schedule for Mid-2003 Completion

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- July 16, 2001 -- The first structural steel girder will be erected today at the future site of the Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) headquarters building. The addition of structural steel to the project will rapidly bring an addition to the Detroit skyline, with a goal of erecting one floor of the structure per week. More than 8,700 tons of structural steel will be used for the building, nearly one-third of the total weight of the steelwork on the Ambassador Bridge. The average weight of the steel columns will be 6,400 pounds, with some columns weighing more than 9,000 pounds.

"We're extraordinarily pleased to reach this milestone," said Denise Knobblock, Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Administration, Compuware Corporation. "This steel is a visible sign of our commitment to creating a wonderful facility for our employees, customers and the community in downtown Detroit."

More than 279,000 cubic yards of material have been excavated from the site, and 221 of the 350 caissons that will support the headquarters and its dedicated parking garage are complete. Costs for the headquarters project are expected to be $350 million. The headquarters building will be 15 stories tall and roughly one million square feet, nearly 60,000 of which will be retail. More than 3,000 Compuware employees will begin occupying the building in 2002, with the remaining employees arriving in 2003.
