Compuware Selects Dell and Cubix as Platforms for Bundling with EcoSYSTEMS Performance Management Software

EcoSCOPE Pre-loaded on Dell and Cubix Servers to Provide Customers with Economical, Mix and Match Server Management System

ATLANTA -- September 11, 2001 -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced at the Networld + Interop Conference (Booth #5547) that it has entered into a bundling agreement with Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) and Cubix Corporation. The deal lets customers conveniently and economically mix and match Compuware performance management software with various operating platforms by pre-configuring their software and having it shipped with each vendor's server hardware. Compuware recognizes Dell and Cubix platforms for their compatibility with its EcoSYSTEMS performance management tool set.

Customers will determine the appropriate pre-configuration for their system at the Dell and Cubix web sites and purchase their EcoSCOPE licenses from Compuware. Orders will be received at Dell's factory for Dell™ PowerEdge™ servers and Dell™ Optiplex™ desktop systems while Cubix provides Multi-Server Appliance Series servers from their facility. Each factory pre-installs the EcoSCOPE probe software on the appropriate operating system and tunes it to support appropriate LAN, WAN and other network interfaces. Customers then receive a management-appliance ready plug and play server, saving the resources normally required to load and distribute software probes on servers through out an enterprise. Customer support is provided by technical teams cross-trained on each product.

"As IT departments continue to operate under tight budgets, Compuware has taken advantage of its relationships with major hardware players such as Dell and Cubix to provide customers with resource-saving alternatives to traditional enterprise hardware and software installation schemes," said Val Stieger, EcoSCOPE Product Manager, Compuware. "This agreement enables Compuware customers to benefit by continuing to purchase leading hardware and software systems while receiving substantial savings on installation costs."

Benefits of Appliance Integration

Customers taking advantage of the appliance integration will benefit from the certification and testing provided by the three companies to ensure compatibility and reliability. In addition, performance is optimized for processor speed, memory, drive capacity and network interfaces along with compatibility between operating systems, drivers, NIC cards and application revisions.

"Dell is committed to making it easy to do business for our customers, from purchasing to delivery to using our products. The packaging of Compuware's EcoSCOPE for powerful application performance management on our computer systems demonstrates this point," said Steve Felice, Dell vice president and general manager, Large Corporate Accounts segment. "Compuware's selection of Dell as a platform of choice illustrates the value software organizations place on the high quality and reliability of our platforms."

Simplified EcoSCOPE Probe Deployment

The agreement between the three organizations simplifies deployment of EcoSCOPE probes across an enterprise since the multi-server appliance is scalable, saves space, consolidates resources, eases network cable administration, simplifies service and is more economical than ordering separate PCs.

"Cubix and Compuware have partnered to provide a unique multi-server appliance that dramatically improves probe deployment," said Jim Zakzeski, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Cubix. "Smart IT professionals can now deploy the proper tools to more quickly and economically identify and help resolve the problem of poor application performance."

Price and Availability

EcoSCOPE is priced beginning at US $19,000.00. Cubix platforms integrated with EcoSCOPE can be ordered immediately, while Dell platforms will be available around the end of September.
