Compuware Previews Technology for Analyzing Distributed Microsoft-based Applications
Compuware DevPartner Distributed Analyzer Enables Developers, Testers to Build Reliable, High Performing Distributed Web Applications
ORLANDO, Fla. -- October 9, 2001 -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced that it is previewing the initial release of the Compuware DevPartner Distributed Analyzer at the VSLive Conference, held this week in Orlando, FL. The DevPartner Distributed Analyzer significantly reduces the time required by web development and testing professionals seeking to fully understand the critical events and transactions that are at the core of distributed, web-based applications. It is one of the first software development tools to effectively trace the program flow of a distributed application as it flows across multiple systems and technologies. A major innovation and significant timesaving capability of the DevPartner Distributed Analyzer is its ability to collect and present results that lead to the early detection and correction of critical program errors and performance problems without requiring instrumentation, recompilation or source code. This means that developers and testers can immediately put Distributed Analyzer to work improving their application's reliability and performance with minimal impact on their development process. The DevPartner Distributed Analyzer supports Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT as well as COM, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Transaction Server/COM+, Internet Information Server, Active Server Pages, client and server side scripting, ISAPI and ADO. Additionally, its architecture has been designed to easily add support for new technologies based on the Microsoft .NET platform. "We are pleased with Compuware's consistent, high quality support of development for Windows," said Robert Green, lead product manager for Visual Studio .NET, at Microsoft Corp. "Its product line of tools and solutions are solidly positioned to help developers and testers create efficient, reliable and performance-ready applications." By using the DevPartner Distributed Analyzer along with the full complement of the Compuware DevPartner products, development teams can analyze and pinpoint coding errors, performance bottlenecks and untested code. Additionally, using Compuware's automated testing tool, TestPartner, with Distributed Analyzer positively impacts a Quality Assurance team's effectiveness. TestPartner can be used to develop test scripts that execute applications being monitored by Distributed Analyzer that generates session information for further review and analysis. "Development teams are under pressure to ensure that problems and performance issues in distributed web-based applications are identified long in advance of deployment," said Shari Zedeck, Director of Product Management for Compuware's DevPartner family of products. "With distributed applications becoming increasingly complex, Distributed Analyzer provides an effective front-line run-time debugging tool for determining relative application health. It does this by quickly isolating and prioritizing problems down to the component or tier level which reduces the time it takes for final deployment." The Compuware DevPartner Distributed Analyzer will be available in a future release of Compuware DevPartner Studio due out later this year.
