Compuware Teams with Intel to Deliver Development Tools for New Intel Itanium Processor Architecture

Development Effort to Result in Next-generation Analysis and Debugging Tools for Key Processor Architecture

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- November 28, 2000 -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced that it is teaming with Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) to advance the state of software debugging tools for the Intel Itanium processor architecture. The two companies will extend Compuware software technologies to develop a new generation of debugging and error detection tools for Intel's Itanium processor. The technologies being extended are part of the Compuware DevPartner Studio and Compuware DriverStudio product lines.

The first products to be delivered to market under this plan will be 64-bit versions of Compuware's SoftICE and BoundsChecker development tools. These two products have long been known as essential tools for serious developers to identify and debug the most difficult software errors.

"The availability of Compuware's developer tools such as SoftICE and BoundsChecker for the Itanium processor platform will make it easier for developers to build software that takes advantage of the new capabilities of our enterprise technology," said Peter Wolochow, Director of Intel's Platform & Technology Enabling Group.

SoftICE, the leading kernel-mode debugger for Windows operating systems running on Intel processors, is the cornerstone component of Compuware DriverStudio, a suite of software tools that enables device driver developers to rapidly develop, debug, tune, test and deploy drivers. BoundsChecker is a part of Compuware DevPartner Studio, a suite that accelerates the development of complex Windows applications through sophisticated debugging, tuning and testing components.

"This relationship strengthens and extends our long and productive work with Intel Corporation," said Doug Turner, Vice President of Product Management for Compuware Corporation. "The opportunity to create a new generation of debugging tools for this processor family is a challenge that we are enthusiastically pursuing. SoftICE and BoundsChecker are key elements of Compuware's comprehensive strategy for helping corporations deploy reliable Windows software products."

Compuware expects to release SoftICE and BoundsChecker for the Itanium processor platform during the second half of calendar year 2001. These two products will continue to be made available as critical components of their respective software suites.
