Compuware Extends E-Business Performance Management Solution to Leading Internet Environments

Compuware EcoTOOLS 7.2 Delivers Performance Management for iPlanet, Apache and Netscape Application Servers and Oracle 8i

NEW YORK -- October 23, 2000 -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced at the Internet World 2000 Conference (Booth 1803) web-based solutions designed to extend performance management solutions for e-business applications residing on leading Internet platforms. Compuware EcoTOOLS 7.2 now manages performance on iPlanet, IBM Apache and Netscape servers along with support for the Oracle 8i database.

In addition, Compuware EcoTOOLS is now able to monitor the utilization of web and application servers with a new load balancing capability. This latest release of EcoTOOLS, a key component of the Compuware EcoSYSTEMS suite, also provides enhanced support for Windows 2000, improved task scheduling and increased firewall support--each feature designed to optimize web performance.

"End users are shifting attention from network uptime and availability to the business applications the network supports, thereby reshaping the service level management opportunity," said Paul Bugala, Research Analyst, IDC. "Compuware's EcoTOOLS offers a core set of application management competencies that can ease the transition into an e-business model by building confidence in Internet-enabled applications."

Web Server Performance Monitoring

EcoTOOLS 7.2 manages e-business applications operating on iPlanet, Apache and Netscape servers and provides support for Oracle 8i-based applications. This latest version of EcoTOOLS provides performance reports focusing on the number of web server and web page hits, web server errors and other crucial details that enable network administrators to easily manage e-business applications.

EcoTOOLS 7.2 provides powerful graphs that indicate particular counters across multiple e-business platforms. This feature enables web managers to load balance web and application servers to compare which servers are over- and under-utilized throughout the day for peak performance.

Expanded Support for Windows 2000 Platform

EcoTOOLS 7.2 contains expanded support for Microsoft's Windows 2000 Server and Professional Edition. Users can now operate EcoTOOLS' user and reporting consoles along with agents for providing greater details on e-business applications residing on this leading Microsoft platform. EcoTOOLS' control server for centralized performance management is also supported on the Windows 2000 Server.

Improved Task Scheduling and Firewall Support

EcoTOOLS' Task Wizard has been enhanced to allow more flexible task scheduling. Tasks can be automatically started, scheduled to run once a day or scheduled to start and stop at a future date. Expanded firewall support enables users to monitor e-business performance across multiple firewalls. Users can now also monitor through firewalls to reach intranets and the Internet.

"By extending EcoTOOLS solutions to key Internet platforms, we further demonstrate the breadth and depth of Compuware's commitment to leadership in the e-business performance management market," said Doug Turner, Vice President of Product Management, Compuware Corporation. "The level of successful application management we achieve with EcoTOOLS 7.2 enables Compuware to meet the performance needs of our customers."
