Healthy Business: Compuware Completes Financial Benchmarking Web Site for Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership
Site Enables Entrepreneurs to Compare their Company's Financial Health to More Than 300,000 Private and Public Companies
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- June 9, 2000 -- Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ:CPWR) announced today the completion of the Kauffman Business EKG web site (www.businessekg.com/). Developed for the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, the Kauffman Business EKG is a free financial benchmarking service providing a comprehensive assessment of a company's financial vital signs, as well as ideas and strategies for improving a company's long-term financial health. Developed for the Kauffman Center by Compuware's Digital Development Center in Kansas City, MO, the site went live in late April. A related site for entrepreneurial information, EntreWorld (www.entreworld.org), sponsored by the Center and recently updated by Compuware, was featured as a "Hot Site" by USA Today. Entrepreneurs can enter their company's financial data in the site's confidential and secure environment, and see how their company compares with others in their specific industry. The benchmarking system is based on a proprietary database of nearly 800,000 financial statements for more than 300,000 private and public companies in America. The system can profile financial performance in hundreds of specific industry sectors for various business formats. The diagnostic results provided by the Kauffman Business EKG site identify those areas where a company is performing well, as well as other areas where improvement is possible. The site also provides strategies for improving company performance and ideas of where entrepreneurs can find additional resources. "We're very excited with the site," said Dr. Michael Camp, Director of Research at the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, "and we're very impressed with the work Compuware's Digital Development Center performed. We're excited about the site because no other computerized financial analysis system is more comprehensive in its representation, accuracy, functionality or delivery. "The Center's mission is to help accelerate entrepreneurial endeavors, especially for young entrepreneurs. They know about their own goals, but how do they measure up with other companies in their industry? This site goes a long way to provide some tools and information they need to evaluate their company's financial health. We spoke to other interactive developers, but the people from Compuware's Digital Development Center had a much better grasp of what we wanted, and what needed to be done to make this site work--meld a huge database of business financial information with an easy-to-use web site. The site design and the development process they used are very successful." The completion of the Kauffman Business EKG site is only the first of several development stages, including an online workshop, web-enabled applications for workshop attendees and web site tools to allow users to securely append individual industry datasets with their own corporate information. "The work of the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership is of vital importance, especially in today's market," noted Larry Freed, Vice President of Compuware Divisional Practices. "When the Center began looking for an interactive services partner to develop their web sites, they looked for a partner who understood the needs of their audience, and who could deliver a wide range of design, development and marketing services. Their choice of Compuware, and our Digital Development Centers, reaffirms what we tell everyone: Compuware makes good business sense."
