Compuware Previews Enhanced Development Technology for Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- April 25, 2000 -- Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ:CPWR) today offered a first look at its new Windows driver development technology at the Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2000, held this week in New Orleans. These technologies will be delivered in upcoming versions of NuMega DriverStudio, a suite that accelerates the development of device drivers for all Windows platforms including Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium Edition. DriverStudio advances software development practices for device driver development, debugging, tuning, testing and deployment.

"Compuware's DriverStudio tools have enabled us to rapidly develop networking products to meet our customers e-commerce requirements," said Leonid Grossman, a member of the technical staff at Alteon Websystems, the leading provider of Gigabit Ethernet adapters. "SoftICE, BoundsChecker and TrueCoverage play an important role in our software development process by helping us to pinpoint problems and thoroughly test our drivers prior to deployment."

Three key technologies will be presented publicly for the first time. New network driver development and debugging tools, which will be incorporated into DriverStudio, simplify Network Data Interface Specification (NDIS) and Transport Data Interface (TDI) driver creation. TrueTime Driver Edition offers the world's first performance analysis tool designed specifically to meet the unique and challenging requirements of kernel-mode driver tuning. And BoundsChecker Driver Edition adds powerful driver analysis and error detection tools for the Windows 98 and Millennium platforms.

Together, the broad technologies available in DriverStudio represent a leap forward in the arsenal of tools that developers can use to develop device drivers and resolve performance and reliability problems.

"Developing Microsoft DDK drivers would be a lengthy and arduous process without the use of DriverStudio," said Jason Yates, Driver Developer at Intelligraphics and long time user of Compuware's SoftICE product.

"DriverStudio continues to make a significant impact on the market for advanced Windows development tools," said Joe Wurm, Vice President and Lab Director for the NuMega product line. "We have continued to listen to our customers and believe the technologies being demonstrated at WinHEC 2000 deliver capabilities that driver developers urgently need for building complex drivers on tight deadlines."
