Compuware Reinvents Web Site for Little Tikes
New Web Site for Maker of Innovative Children's Products Now Online; Compuware Professional Services and Products Deliver E-commerce Solution in 71 Days
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- February 28, 2000 -- Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ:CPWR) today announced the completion of a new consumer web site for The Little Tikes Company, a multinational manufacturer and marketer of high-quality, innovative children's products. Completely redesigned, the Little Tikes website now provides parents and children with product information on the company's entire line of more than 200 items, previews of new products, expanded search capabilities, featured articles from toy experts, a BigTikesClub with special benefits, fun kid activities and purchasing information, among other features. Compuware Professional Services partnered with Little Tikes to complete phase one development and load testing of the site, as well as the site's entire creative look-and-feel, in just over two months. Compuware began work on redeveloping Little Tikes' web site soon after they were awarded the contract on September 27, 1999. The new web site went live in December 1999. Because of the accelerated time line for the project, the Compuware development team overlapped several jobs that usually would have taken place sequentially, including graphic design, database design, Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) programming, page construction and system testing. The Little Tikes site uses Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and Microsoft SQL Server running on a Windows NT platform. Compuware used a three-tier architecture approach--server, browser and a Microsoft SQL database--to develop the site. "Little Tikes makes toys that encourage active and creative fun and we wanted our web site to have our creative flair, too," said Laura Musarra, Director of Marketing and Project Manager for the redesign. "In redesigning the web site, our key objectives were to add a touch of fun, greater interactivity and valuable information for parents. We chose Compuware because of the skills and experience they bring to web projects. Compuware has the know-how to bring together customer-facing web applications with the database design and automated testing we needed. They helped us create a web site that not only provides product information, but is now a great resource for parents to learn about how their child develops through play, or to find a special toy. Strategically, we will continue to work with Compuware to enhance our new content-rich site, provide parents and children with a special experience and expand our one-stop boutique concept." "We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Little Tikes in their e-commerce initiatives," said Larry Freed, Vice President of Compuware Divisional Practices. "By being able to use our Professional Services organization and our products, we are able to provide a high level of value in redesigning this exciting site, from concept all the way to deployment." Compuware Professional Services consultants have been chosen to continue development and creative design of the Little Tikes site.
