HealthCare.gov
Performance Status

Healthcare.gov took three years and cost an estimated $687 million dollars to develop. Eleven weeks after its launch date, well after the November 30th improvement deadline, the site is still not performing acceptably for consumers in many states.

We’ve been monitoring the website periodically since early October (see chronological view below large map). The “performance heat map” below represents average user response times on December 18-20th as tested from hundreds of end user's computers in 48 states. Over the past 8 weeks, despite the “tech surge” fanfare, not much has changed from the consumer’s point of view.

With the free Compuware AJAX Edition download, we’re drilling into problems that plague the site by getting an outside-in view of what performance looks like in users’ browsers.

We’ve found that Healthcare.gov performs better in the early morning hours when there are fewer visitors trying to access the site. However, later in the day, there are significant delays on the registration and individual market place pages.

Using our global monitoring service, we’ll continue to synthetically test multiple pages that mimic a potential user path from real consumer PCs, the internet backbone (Chrome, IE and Firefox) and LastMile (Firefox) every 15 minutes. Return to this site to get the latest on Healthcare.gov performance and progress.
