How to do Application Performance Monitoring in the Clouds: Lessons Learned
We face the challenge of monitoring and managing performance in clouds every other day. Not only is application performance management different in a cloud, but all clouds are not equal either. The session will show how to do APM in several different Clouds (Azure, EC2, VMware private Clouds) and how it differs from more traditional environments. It will also cover performance monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning in environments where resources are virtually infinite, but application performance is not.

Performance Management in Big Data Applications
Do Applications that use NoSQL still need Performance Management? Is it always the best option to throw more hardware at a MapReduce Job? In both cases Performance Management is still about the Application, but Big Data Technologies added a new wrinkle to it. The session will explain some of the main application performance problems of Big Data Applications and how to solve them.

Handling an 1800 Percent Traffic Spike During Super Bowl XLVI
The presentation will discuss how Cars.com scaled their website to handle the huge onrush of visitors driven by their Super Bowl XLVI advertising campaign. Learn:
- How they sustained both an immediate 1800 percent spike in page view traffic and a subsequent load that was 40 percent above their normal peak, all while maintaining business performance and customer satisfaction
- What compelled them to move from legacy tools to a new generation APM system
- How they were able to make the leap from reactive to proactive – resolving issues before the business or customers complained
- If we had to get rid of all our monitoring tools and keep just one solution – what would it be?
- Why the Cars.com team, rather than rushing around putting out production fires, sat back, ate chicken wings, watched the monitors and the game too!
