Memorial Day Preview at Compuware, as Military Vets Host Commemorative Walls for Public Viewing

DETROIT, May 23, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As Memorial Day approaches, the Military Veterans of Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company, are sponsoring a rare public viewing Wednesday and Thursday of two commemorative objects: the Michigan Vietnam Veteran Traveling Memorial and the Michigan Fallen Soldiers Memorial.

The Michigan Traveling Wall is dedicated to the men and women from Michigan who lost their lives during the Vietnam War era. It is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 154, of Macomb County and contains more than 2,600 names.

The Michigan Fallen Soldiers Memorial is a tribute to service members from Michigan who lost their lives since the Vietnam War to the present day. It is up to date and contains 246 names.

"It is a great honor to have both of these walls here at the same time," said Master Sergeant Timothy Henderson, an Army and Air Force veteran and project coordinator at Compuware.

"Just being in the presence of these walls with the names of the men and women on them, and what they have given for this country, makes me very proud to serve in the same military as them."

The walls will be unveiled in the Compuware atrium during a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, May 23, with a 9 a.m. raising of the colors outside the building by the MilVets Honor guard. This group consists of active reservists employed by Compuware, and they will conduct a symbolic placement of a wreath, similar to the wreath-layings at Arlington Cemetery.

The walls will be on public display Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Members of the public will be able to access both walls to take photographs or make tracings. Anyone who has lost a loved one or friend can bring a photo and biographical material that will be placed in a book that travels with the wall.

"We want these men and women to be more than just a name on the wall," said Glenn Smith, an Air Force veteran who is a support analyst for Compuware Covisint.
