DETROIT, May 18, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR) and the Mexican Consulate are collaborating on a dual exhibits of photos and textiles that demonstrate the richness of Mexico's cultural heritage.
One exhibit is titled "De La Cocina Al Ojo," -- "A Glimpse into the Kitchen." It includes important historical photographs from the Mexican revolution, and represents the kitchen and the dining room as a cultural universe where a mixture of people, social motives and an exchange of conversation all come together in a daily ritual.
"Textile Traditions of Mexico: An Ethnographic Journey" showcases the textile traditions of Mexico and highlights its vast ethnic diversity. Groups represented include the Amuzgo, Mixteco and Zapotec of Oaxaca; the Maya of Chiapas; the Purepecha of Michoacan, among others.
This exquisite collection of hand-woven and dyed garments has been acquired over time by Stephanie Schneiderman, founder of Ann Arbor-based Tia Stephanie Tours, Cultural Journeys to Mexico, during many trips into the interior of Mexico. Beyond the well known beach resorts, this exhibit will introduce viewers to another side of Mexico that is less visited but rich in tradition and artistic expression.
The exhibition is open to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays in May from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Gallery B in the Compuware Headquarters Atrium.
